30 Day Blogging Challenge: Day 23 – 27

Day 23: A letter to someone, anyone

Grandma,

I miss you more than I can put into words. Each and every day I think about you and I hate that you aren’t here anymore. I thought it would get easier with time but it hasn’t and it sucks. I hate not having you to be able to just call on my way home from work like I used to. I hate not being able to drive to see you for dinner before driving the hour home so that I wouldn’t miss work in the morning. I hate not being able to tell you everything.

It isn’t fair that you were taken from us. There are so many bad people in the world and yet you were the one taken. I think about you all the time and miss you even more often. I love you so much and I am going to keep living my life trying to make sure you would be proud of me. You mean so much to me and I will never stop loving you.

Till we meet again,

Lyndsay

Day 24: Write about a lesson you learned the hard way

I have learned a lot of lessons the hard way but the one that comes to mind is not to trust everyone. Sure there are some people in the world that can be trusted but there are also a lot of people who shouldn’t be trusted. I used to trust a lot more easily than I do now even when I had a bad feeling about something but now I know to follow my gut when it’s telling me not to trust.

Day 25: Think of any word and search it on Google images. Write something inspired by the 11th image

Word: Believe

Dreams are a strange but wonderful thing, they come in two rather abstract concepts. Let’s begin with the one most people think about when someone says dream, the ones that happen when you are sleeping. Such a concept to think that our minds can create these images while we are asleep. When all other functions are put on pause we still see those images and they create something we might not understand. Though dreams are our subconscious trying to convey something we want or something we are afraid of happening.

So why is it that the second type of dream is where we set a goal we wish to achieve? Well it is because we are aiming for something that we want and while there may be fears holding us back that goal is still present. I believe that in a way the two concepts intertwine with each other and although we may not know it they each shape the other. Follow your dreams, both kinds and reach for the stars.

Day 26: Write and area in your life that you’d like to improve

This was by far the easiest one for me to do… I want to improve the way I see myself. I want to be able to love myself. I have been through a lot and come out stronger but I still have many many moments where I hate myself and I hate the way I look. I’m working each and every day on loving myself and accepting myself for everything I’ve been through and all the scars that I carry but it is still a difficult road.

Day 27: Write about something that’s kicking ass right now

Last night I went to my first paint night and I think it kicked ass. I loved it and I’ve signed up for the next one. I also have my bullet journal going and it’s allowing me that creative outlet. I believe the creative parts of my life are kicking ass!

Review: Sakura Pigma Sensei

Hello Everyone,

Since starting my journey into bullet journalling I’ve tried a few different fine liner pens/markers. I’ve tried some from the dollar store that come in multiple colours. When I’m running low on cash and need some new fine liners the dollar store is a good place to head. I have found the Studio brand to be quite reliable and minimal shadowing. However when I’ve got a little extra money and need some new fine liners I usually go for Sakura Pigma Sensei. I bought the pack that comes with many different sizes so that I could try them out to see what I liked best.

I have found that I prefer two different sizes over the other’s. My go to is the 0.4mm as it is the perfect size for the writing that I am doing. When making lines the 0.4 is the perfect thickness and creates smooth lines. There isn’t too much shadowing either. I am someone who doesn’t draw/write on both sides of the paper so shadowing doesn’t bother me anyway. I have been using pen I have for a few months now with quite a bit of use and it is still writing as if it were new. I haven’t had it run out of ink yet so I am unsure of how long it lasts, however I’m happy with the length of use so far. Sometimes I do things that need a thicker tip and that is when I turn to the other size that I like out of the pack. The 1.0mm is perfect for when I need a thicker line or would like to fill something in with the black. This pen provides a very rich colour and I use it quite often. I think I’m going to get a longer use out of this one than the 0.4 but again I haven’t finished either of them so I’m not sure yet.

Overall I would highly recommend the Sakura Pigma Sensei to anyone looking for a fine liner pen. I have used the pen for bullet journalling, zentangle, card making, and just general writing. This pen has seen me through a lot. I believe this is a great pen for both beginners and the more experienced.

Bullet Journalling

Well hello there everyone,

Recently I discovered the world of bullet journalling and I have to say so far I’m loving it. I bought a Leuchtturm1917 and decided I would start in the new year so I have been setting it up for 2018. I didn’t think I would like using something like this for scheduling so I haven’t done weekly spreads but doing a monthly calendar is proving to work for me. Now I know what works for me won’t work for everyone but I am going to talk about what is working for me and what doesn’t.

For starters I have about five different pages per month. I have a title page, the monthly calendar, a list for that month, a habit tracker and a blank page that I will be using for a spending tracker. The title page is just so I know where the month starts (see below for example). The monthly calendar is just that, a simple monthly calendar. The list changes every month so I have a want list, a movies to watch list, birthdays list, ways to save money list and some others. The habit tracker is just so I can track certain things like no junk food, sleep and water as well as stress and other things. I have found that I don’t need anything other than that in my journal as I have a second smaller journal that I use for my mood tracker.

I really enjoy the size of the tracker I have, some people might find it too big as it is rather large. However I find that it’s easier to design with it larger. Although it is difficult to figure out how to transport it if I am not bringing my backpack with me somewhere. That really is the only downside to the journal that I have. Otherwise I would recommend it to anyone who asked me for suggestions. I also only write on one side of each page as the markers can be seen on the other side. This doesn’t bother me at all as I usually only write on one side of paper in everyday life. Honestly it really depends on what you are looking for if this journal will work for you. Now for ideas and where to get them. While there are a few Facebook groups that I am part of where people share their ideas I usually get ideas from Pinterest. There are so many ideas that can be found. I’ve made my own board to make sure I am keeping everything together and for future reference. I haven’t really found any other places where I can find the ideas I want.

When I was first starting out I was nervous, I’m not the greatest artist and I didn’t know if I would enjoy it. If you are wanting to get started and are worried about it I would suggest a few things.

1. Start small. Don’t jump into it too quickly. If you jump into it too quickly you might lose interest fast or might not be able to find what is going to work for you.

2. Do some research. Make sure you are looking into things so you know what is out there that you can do. What works for one person might not work for you.

3. Believe in yourself. While things might get difficult just keep moving forward. Keep in mind that not everything is going to be perfect especially when you just start out but with practice it will get better.

While it might be intimidating at first it is something that can be done. There are so many resources out there and talking to people who also bullet journal is a good place to start. Are you thinking about starting but have some questions? Feel free to drop them below and I will try to give the advice that I can. I’m just a beginner as well but advice from one beginner to another is a good place to start. Enjoy!
